In the heart of Rugby, Warwickshire, we recently embarked on a challenging yet rewarding project. It involved the removal of an old, dangerous building that had seen better days, followed by the construction of a brand-new annex. This annex was to be a functional yet versatile space, complete with a log-burning stove, a Velux windows, a golf simulator, and a small bar area which provided the perfect chill area to relax in. After the build was finished the customer even added a sofa and desk in to provide a small office space in which they could work from home (which has only increased in popularity after the Covid Pandemic).
The project was not just about creating a functional space but also ensuring it was done to the completed to the highest of standards. Being within the Bilton area of Rugby the village which the earliest parts of date back to 1623, the main task was to rebuild the new structure in keeping of the traditional surroundings.
By meticulously selecting an old weathered brick from our suppliers and pairing it with a rustic roof tile, composite barn style front door and powder coated aluminium black garage doors we were able to create a brand new structure which looked and felt like an old style barn with a modern twist.
The first phase of our project involved the safe and strategic demolition of an old, dilapidated structure. This building had become a hazard, and it was imperative to remove it before any further damage or potential danger ensued. Our skilled team carefully dismantled the structure, ensuring safety and minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
Creating the New Annex with the old structure out of the way, we carefully laid the foundations before using the rustic style brick with block work inner walls to re-create the building but by also utilising modern building materials such as an insulated floor, ceiling and cavity walls to provide an energy efficient space.
This space was designed to serve multiple purposes, offering our client the ultimate blend of comfort, entertainment, and utility such as:
Log Burning Stove: To ensure a cozy atmosphere during the colder months, we installed a log-burning stove. This not only adds warmth but also adds a touch of rustic charm to the space.
Velux Window: A Velux window was strategically placed to flood the room with natural light, creating an inviting and bright atmosphere.
Golf Simulator: One of the unique features of this project was the inclusion of a dedicated golf simulator room. This allowed our client to practice their swing without ever leaving the comfort of their home.
Bar Area: A bar area was incorporated into the design to make the space perfect for socializing and entertaining guests.
The new annex was divided into two sections. The first section served as storage space, providing a functional area to keep belongings organized. The second section was dedicated to the golf simulator, complete with a high-tech setup for an immersive golfing experience.
The division allowed for versatility, ensuring that the space could be used for various purposes while keeping it organised and clutter-free.
Throughout this project, we maintained our commitment to delivering the highest standards of workmanship. Our skilled team at Paddox Construction paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of the new annex was completed to perfection.
